Sony Interactive Entertainment, Microsoft and Nintendo will not be attending E3 2023, according to an IGN report citing “multiple sources with knowledge.”
While Microsoft recently confirmed that it will “return to Los Angeles for our annual trade show this summer,” it did not specify whether it would be as part of E3 2023.
Speaking to IGN last week, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said he was timing its unveiling at a “press and even consumer-friendly” time, suggesting it will be held around the same time as E3. 2023.
Sony Interactive Entertainment hasn’t attended an E3 since E3 2018.
Neither the Entertainment Software Association — the organization that runs E3 — nor any of the three platform holders have commented on IGN’s report.
E3 2023 will take place from June 13 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Read more here.

As you’ve probably seen, IGN published an article last night about E3. While we are unable to comment on the specific claims in the article, we wanted to share our commitment to moving forward with E3.
E3 has a rich history within our industry and we’re always excited to feel the passion for the show and hear what it means to different people. Reviving an exhibition after a three-year hiatus and a global pandemic was always going to have its challenges, which is why we conducted extensive research (in consultation with ESA member companies) to identify the best partner to produced E3. By choosing ReedPop as our partner, we’ve been able to leverage their rich history of hosting popular industry events like PAX and larger consumer shows like Comic-Con.
They’ve made great strides in reshaping the event and have received tremendous support from industry companies of all sizes who are not only thinking about E3 2023, but how E3 fits into their marketing plans for 2024 and beyond.
It is important to note that even as the show evolves and adapts, it will not affect the core of ESA’s work for its member companies. Our priority remains protecting your political interests at the state and federal level.
We’ll share news and developments regarding E3 as they become available. If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to contact me. Thank you for your continued support.
Xbox, meanwhile, is reported by IGN to be working with ReedPop to host a special physical showcase at the Los Angeles Convention Center the weekend before E3 2023.
