PornHub is pulling back the covers on America’s X-rated viewership, unveiling their website’s most popular searches for 2022.
The company released grim data on Tuesday, revealing that “lesbian” was the most searched term in the frisky 50 states, with “hentai” — a type of Japanese anime — close behind.
Meanwhile, the terms “blowjob,” “cosplay” and “trans” saw substantial search growth in 2022, while “transgender” exploded in popularity, becoming America’s fourth most-viewed category overall.
According to PornHub, the kinky category has seen a 75% increase in viewers, with the company saying their top searches are “generally influenced by pop culture and other worldwide events”.

Despite domestic issues including soaring inflation and political polarization, the country with the highest daily traffic to PornHub is America. The United Kingdom is in second place, followed by France, Japan, Mexico and Italy.

Elsewhere, an analysis of American viewing patterns revealed differences between states, with interest in certain search terms and categories varying by location.
For example, residents in Utah were more likely to search for “Mormon” pornography, while pornographic Oregon viewers searched for “furry” more than any other state.
Texans, meanwhile, saw the word “panty” on a more frequent basis, while “pegging” was the most popular word in Wisconsin and “stool mom” topped Ohio.
Data analysis revealed that 86% of Americans consumed PornHub videos on their phones this year – sneaking in some fun time on their mobile device.

With 24% fewer visitors to the site on January 1st, many Americans don’t seem to be horning in for the holidays.
