Julian Sands: Who is the British Hollywood actor missing from California?
Julian Sands’ brother Nick has said he knows “in my heart” that his sibling is no longer alive, as the search for the missing British actor entered its 11th day.
In comments to his local newspaper in Yorkshire, Craven HeraldSands said: “He hasn’t been reported missing yet, presumed dead, but I know in my heart he’s gone. As much as sibling rivalry is, it would be like him walking out of there and proving me wrong.”
Sands was reported missing on January 13, prompting a major search and rescue effort led by the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office.
Search efforts were hampered by warnings of high winds near the San Gabriel Mountains, near where Sands is believed to have disappeared.
On Monday, Rooms with a view The star’s family thanked California authorities for their “heroic” efforts.
Last week, Sands’ family released the last known images of him on the mountain, showing The Independent: “That’s how he’d like to be seen, doing what he loved most—a heroic mountaineer.”

A brother of Julian Sands has said he “knows in his heart” that his brother is no longer alive.
Nick Sands, who lives in Gargrave, Yorkshire and last saw his brother in October, told the local Craven Herald newspaper: “He hasn’t been declared missing yet, he’s presumed dead, but I know in my heart that he’s gone. Whatever the sibling rivalry is, it would be like him walking away from there and proving me wrong.
“On Monday, he had planned to join his brothers at our Monday club for a beer in Skipton; he will be missed and I think we will raise a glass to him.”
He added: “When in LA, the Baldy range was his favorite place, he went there as often as he could, Julian was fond of saying: ‘I’ve never had a holiday, but I do occasionally’ – well he is resting now. in a place he would really approve of.”

Efforts to find the second missing climber prompt a ground search for Sands, rescuers say
A second hiker has been found missing in the Baldy Mountain area — which sheriffs say has given ground crews a renewed opportunity to search for Julian Sands.
Jin Chung, 75, of Los Angeles has been missing since Sunday after he was last seen around 6 a.m. on a hike to Mount Baldy with two others, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.
A search was carried out during the night, but the climber was not found. The search for Jin Chung was set to continue on Tuesday, but without the help of helicopters due to warnings of strong winds.
The agency revealed that the ground search for the 75-year-old has given crews a renewed opportunity to search for Mr Sands.

Sands ‘always pleasant, optimistic and erudite’, says the friend
Julian Sands is an “intellectual in some ways and down-to-earth in others” and “always pleasant, upbeat, erudite, interesting to talk to”, a friend has said. The Independent.
Gordon Janow, director of Alpine Ascents International, who has known Sands for 20 years, said: “We discussed art, literature, travel, architecture. Our conversations covered many areas. He was very easy to talk to.”
As the search expanded, a team from Mr. Janow Alpine Ascents International was brought in to assist the family and Sands officials in locating the 65-year-old.

Friends pay tribute to missing actor as search enters 12th day

Another hiker disappears on the mountain where Sands disappeared
Jin Chung, 75, of Los Angeles has been missing since Sunday after he was last seen around 6 a.m. on a hike to Mount Baldy with two others, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.
The group of three agreed to meet back at the car at around 2pm, but the 75-year-old never turned up.

The Sheriff’s Department is now searching for two missing mountain climbers on Baldy Mountain
On Sunday January 22nd, personnel from Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and the Fontana Sheriff’s Station were asked to search for the missing hiker, Jin Chung.
Chung initially drove to Mount Baldy with two others, but became separated from them when they arrived, with the understanding that they would meet back at the vehicle at 2 p.m.
The other climbers returned safely, but Chung has not been seen or heard from.

At least 19 people have died in the storms in California
According to the sheriff’s department, it has launched 14 search and rescue missions in the Baldy Mountain area alone over the past month, with two climbers dying on the mountain.
In addition to Julian Sands, rescue crews in Los Angeles County are also searching the San Gabriel Range for missing 61-year-old Robert Gregory.
