ATP Paris Day 1 Predictions Including Bublik vs Ymer

With the final ATP Masters of the tennis season kicking off in Paris, we take a look at some of the Day 1 matches. With some very interesting and exciting matches in the first round, The Last Word on Tennis shares our predictions for the matches. Who do you think will win?

ATP Paris Day 1 Predictions

John Isner vs Oscar Otte

John Isner has not played since August and the US Open. The American is the eighth-ranked US men’s player after breaking his wrist in a first-round win over Federico Delbonis. His current ranking is #47 in the world. Isner will be very tough in this match.

On the other hand, his opponent Oscar Otte played well since losing in the first round at the US Open. The German has entered the competition to reach this competition. This will be the first meeting of the couple. The German is younger, with more matches under his belt.

Alex Molcan vs Richard Gasquet

Alex Molcan is the #1 and #46 Slovak male tennis player in the world. Since the US Open, Molcan has not had a good season. Played twice and made the second round of the Swiss Indoors event as the best seed in both tournaments.

Richard Gasquet has many more matches going to Paris. The French are also on home turf, and that counts for a lot where the crowd is involved. Gasquet reached the semifinals at the European Open, where he was stopped by second seed Félix Auger-Aliassime. A first race for both, but Gasquet will have the payoff.

Marin Cilic vs Lorenzo Musetti

These two have played once before and the Croatian won it. Marin Cilic lost to Novak Djokovic in the final in Tel Aviv earlier this month. That has been followed by two early exits in the last few events he has played. However, Cilic has the advantage of having met his opponent once before.

Lorenzo Musetti has two semifinals and a title (in the Napoli Cup) since the US Open, along with several early exits. The Italian will want to score as well, but Cilic is the seeded player. This will definitely be a good race but Cilic has the upper hand.

Alexander Bublik vs Mikael Ymer

Alexander Bublik has been consistent since the US Open. With one final and two quarter-final points to his name, the Kazakh is in good shape heading into Paris. Bublik has played Ymer once before and the Kazakh claimed that match in three sets.

Mikael Ymer has two quarter-finals and a semi-final to his name since the US Open. The Swede is in very good shape coming to Paris. Ymer has been through the playoffs so it would be dangerous to kiss on the same courts often. This will be another close match between the pair.
Prediction: Bublik in 3
